What they are
Dealcoholized wines begin as fully fermented wines and then undergo a controlled process to remove most or all of their ethanol content. Because the product starts as real wine, it preserves much of the original aroma, structure and character. The final alcohol level is typically below 0.5 percent ABV in many markets. This makes dealcoholized wine different from broader “non alcoholic wine” categories that may include grape juice or products that never completed fermentation.
How it’s made
The production process is essential for communicating quality. Being able to state that the wine is made through full fermentation adds credibility and positions the product as premium. The most common techniques are reverse osmosis, which separates alcohol from aroma and colour compounds through a fine membrane, and vacuum distillation, which removes ethanol at low temperature to protect delicate flavours. Other hybrid systems, such as spinning cone technology, are also used to retain aroma while reducing alcohol.
Why it matters
Consumers are moving toward mindful drinking, low alcohol habits, and sobriety-friendly choices. This shift creates strong opportunities for brands offering low or zero alcohol wines in bottles and cans, with room to position themselves as premium, inclusive, and contemporary. The main challenges remain taste, body and texture, since alcohol contributes to weight and mouthfeel, and the perception that non alcoholic wines lack complexity. A clear process explanation and strong sensory positioning help overcome these concerns.
Origin and authenticity
All wines are fully Italian, sourced from selected vineyards and produced entirely in Italy. Every stage of the process takes place within Italian facilities, from vinification to dealcoholization and final packaging. This ensures traceability, consistency and an authentic Italian character in both flavour and craftsmanship.
